Gardens Open

The ancient village of Wigmore is known for its C12 castle, home to the Mortimer family and now a 'romantic ruin', and its medieval church. The two gardens are both within 100yds of the parking area. Bury Court Farmhouse has a ¾-acre garden, 'rescued' since 1997, surrounding an 1840's stone farmhouse (not open). The courtyard contains a pond, mixed borders, fruit trees and shrubs, with steps up to a terrace which leads to lawn and vegetable plots. The main garden (semi-walled) is on 2 levels with mixed borders greenhouse, pond, mini-orchard with daffodils in spring and wildlife area. The garden is designed for yr-round interest and colour. 2 Bury Court Park is a small garden with beautiful views. Herbaceous and evergreen shrub borders, pond, bog garden, gravelled areas, patio, pergola with climbers, raised beds with companion planting, greenhouse, arbour, paved seating and sun areas, lawns. Specimen trees, fruit area and watering system.
